Leaving for Spain on a Budget …again!
I’ll be heading off to Barcelona tomorrow so I may be MIA for a day or two traveling. I’ll definitely be keeping you posted on how I manage eating abroad on a tight budget. As you probably know from reading, this will be my 3rd trip to Spain in the past 12 months, so I will see if I can beat my record of living 25 Euro a week on food. But!I have a new-Spain-trip resolution: more wine and olives!
While I was there the last times I really got in to olives, but I didn’t try very many different kinds, so I want to become an olive aficionado this time around. Olives have a lot of the same qualities as avocados (from the post below) They are high in healthy fats and have great anti-inflammatory qualities which can even help against common allergies plus they’re full of antioxidants. Not to mention DELICIOUS! And in Spain, they’re super cheap and REALLY good.
Also, wine. I’ve hardly had ANY wine in Spain, which I’m pretty sure is an actual sin. I vow to enjoy my 1 euro Spainish wines this time around. (Yes, 1 Euro, thats only $1.31 for an entire bottle of wine) Talk about cheap!
Plus wine (IN MODERATION) has some interesting health benefits including heart health since the antioxidants in red wine help protect red blood cells better than most alcohol. However the jury is still out if red wine really has any significant health benefits. But if the only reason to drink 1 glass a day is because it is a relaxing way to fight stress, I think that’s reason enough. Mental health is just as important as physical health.
Well, see ya on the other side of the pond! Adios!
